Meet Dr. Sean MacConnell
Dr. Sean MacConnell grew up in downtown Toronto, where he continues to live and work. He was exposed to Chiropractic at a young age through his mother, Dr. Judy Adler, who taught him the importance of helping patients by taking a holistic approach to health and addressing the underlying cause of pain and dysfunction. He developed a strong interest in human anatomy through the sports of boxing and powerlifting, which led him to attend the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto. Dr. MacConnell also has additional certification in Neurofunctional Acupuncture from McMaster University, and graduated from the University of Guelph in 2014.
Sean uses manual therapy and adjustments, rehabilitative exercise, acupuncture and other techniques to provide his patients with the best care available and enable them to return to the activities they most enjoy. Dr. MacConnell currently works out of 3 practices.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a healthcare field focused on the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the joints, muscles and nerves of the body. Chiropractors specialize in treating low back and neck pain, hip pain, shoulder pain and headaches. Spine pain, most commonly originating in the neck and low back, is the area most commonly treated by Chiropractors using a combination of techniques. These include manual muscle therapy, joint manipulation (chiropractic adjustments), rehab exercises and acupuncture. Chiropractors are best known for providing adjustments of the spine, which are fast and powerful movements designed to allow a stiff joint to move more freely and with decreased pain. The first appointment always involves an initial assessment and examination to diagnose a patient’s condition, identify the source of their problem and determine an appropriate treatment plan.
What sorts of things do Chiropractors treat?
Chiropractors treat a large number of issues stemming from the joints and muscles of the body, from serious injuries down to more everyday aches and pains. Most commonly treated are lower back pain, neck pain, headaches, shoulder pain, hip pain, osteoarthritis, tendinitis and muscle strains.
What is that cracking sound?
Chiropractors are best known for providing adjustments of the spine, which are fast and powerful movements designed to allow a stiff joint to move more freely and with decreased pain. When an adjustment is performed to a joint it often releases a cracking or popping sound. This is not a bone breaking! Similar to when you crack your fingers, it is simply gas being released from the joint.
What is the difference between Chiropractors and Physiotherapists?
Chiropractic and Physiotherapy are very similar. Both professions treat injuries and aches and pains coming from the muscles and joints of the body using muscle techniques, exercises and other therapies. The main difference is that Chiropractors specialize in treating the spine and use the techniques of spinal adjusting more frequently.
Is Chiropractic covered under my insurance?
Chiropractic care is not covered under OHIP but most extended health insurance plans will cover Chiropractic treatment, but the amount that is covered varies depending on your specific insurance plan. It is always good to check with your insurance company for the details of your plan before seeing a Chiropractor.
